Submissions for Passion for Weird Tales

I and some volunteers are reading all the submissions.  I know that some submissions were sent back in March and I've held them over until this project started. Everyone is still under consideration. I and readers will be making final selections over the next two weeks.

GreenGeckoPublishing.com

The website has been upgraded to www.greengeckopublishing.com . I will continue to use geckopublishing@gmail.com until Passion for Weird Tales has been completed. After that I'll be using _______@greengeckopublishing.com to handle submissions and responses. I'll announce the new submission email at a later date. In the interim, please continue to send messages to geckopublishing@gmail.com.

At some point this blog will be archive and all activities will take place on the site. I haven't done that yet because there are more changes afoot. Changes for the better, I hope.

Updates

For the sake of transparency, Green Gecko is now run primarily by me. Sometimes I have helpers, but as my partner said, "This is a lot of work and not very profitable."

I was thinking, no shit, Sherlock, but I said, "I'm sorry you feel that way."

And I was. In the interim, Green Gecko has gone from semi- well funded, to funded solely by me. It did cross my mind that maybe I should have spent more of her money while I had it =) but I'm really not that kind of person.

What this means for Green Gecko turns out to be a hill of beans. I was already running things on a shoe string budget. I plan to continue to fund at least two books a year out of my own pocket and whatever I make back, will be reinvested. This means up to four books a year, assuming I have that much free time. I work a full time job and as of yet, have not been paid for a minute of my work. At the heart of Green Gecko is a desire to create a market where new writers can get a start.

One of the benefits of being solo is that I don't have anybody to argue with. I can do things how I see fit. One of the things I'd like to do, is have a guest editor mange one project a year. The where and why of this comes down to Passion. I love spam but yawn at literary fiction. I love puzzling but hate knitting. The Passion for series is about what people love and seems fitting to let a guest editor share his or her passion.

This is not something I plan to do right away. It's just something I've been thinking of. My partner called me nuts.

in the meantime, there is one big change afoot. Moving forward Green Gecko will publish a print edition of each collection first, followed by a digital release a month later. I'd also like to tell you about Eleanor Bennett. She approached me about using her work. She's just sixteen years old and an amazing photographer already. Here's a link to her site. I don't know when I'll be using her work, possibly in the cover image for Passion for Weird Tales.
